Eid Learning Project

Due: Monday after Eid holiday

Dear Children,

After Eid, you will be studying 'Our Wonderful World' in the Creative Curriculum. To prepare yourself for this topic, we would like you to create a research project on a Marine/Ocean biome. A biome is a large geographical area that has similar weather, plants, animals, climate and landscape.

1st: Choose the question that you want to answer

If the animals could talk in a Ocean, what do you think would worry them?
(You should focus on the problems the Savanna is facing and the changes to the biome)

OR

If you could invent new species of animals and plants for a Ocean –what would they be?
(You need to focus on animal and plant adaptations)

2nd: The task

Your task is to create a 3D research project for our Marine display. It can be a diorama, a mobile, a moving model ....BUT it must answer the question you have chosen AND meet the following criteria:

What you need to include:
· A clear title
· An Introduction explaining the question you are going to answer, facts about the biome landscape, weather and climate. You should include brief details about the types of animals and plants that live there.
· Models and clearly labelled research for 2 existing plants and 2 existing animals that are found in this biome. You should include annotations and how they have adapted to the Marine biome. (eg. In the Ocean biome, fish are adapted to the sea as they are streamlined and have scales so they can glide through the water easily.)
· Models and clear research that answers the question you have chosen. You need to give 3 examples. eg. 3 invented animals or 3 animals or plants stating different concerns about the changing biome

WILF -What I am looking for:

. A project that covers the points above
·A project that is written in your own words (please do NOT copy from books or the internet –use the information from them and put it in your own words)
· A project that is well presented using bright colours/photos/pictures/models· A project that is presented in an interesting way –maybe you could create a diorama or a hanging mobile or a pop-up book. Use your imagination!
